Most cells function within tissues, with the breakdown of tissue function the basis of ageing and diseases such as cancer, inflammation, neuro-degeneration and pathogen infection. The LMCB promotes a听culture of local and global collaboration.听Its location within UCL鈥檚 Faculty of Life Sciences听facilitates interdisciplinary exchange听across UCL faculties, including the听Institute for the Physics of Living Systems,听迟丑别听听and many more. The close proximity of many research centres, including the Francis Crick Institute, Kings College London, Imperial College London and the Universities听of Oxford and Cambridge, encourages a vibrant atmosphere of interactive, ambitious research.
