UCL Research Data Repository

Since 2019, the UCL Research Data Repository has given all staff and research students the tools they need to deposit, archive, publish and promote their research outputs.

About the repository

In June 2019, theÌýResearch Data Management team in Library ServicesÌýand the Research Data Group in theÌýCentre for Advanced Research ComputingÌýcame together to provide aÌýbrand new service - theÌýÌý(UCLÌýRDR). Since then, we haveÌýpublished hundreds of records archiving research outputs for staff and research students across UCL.ÌýThe UCL RDR supports almost all file formats and we can assign digital object identifiers () to published items.

The items we can publishÌýinclude:Ìýfully anonymised,Ìýnon-sensitive datasets, figures, posters, presentations, software, data management plans, workflows and models.

Storage

Users have an initial individual storage limit of 50GB and any projects created have an initial limit of 100GB (where greater storage is needed, users can make these requests via their accounts.) We ask that all items be accompanied by data documentation (metadata) and that the user has assigned the appropriate usage licence.ÌýUsers can also apply temporaryÌýembargoes where these are necessary.

Benefits of using the UCL RDR

  • Secure long term data preservation and curation: 10+ years
  • ³§³Ù´Ç°ù²¹²µ±ð:Ìýaccess andÌýdata sharingÌýworldwide.
  • Compliance:ÌýmeetsÌýfunders' requirementsÌýforÌý.
  • Multiple formats: supportsÌý.
  • Increased citations: published research data hasÌýits ownÌýDOI.
  • Discoverability: aids discovery and leads to new partnerships.
  • Defines reuse: appliesÌýÌýand other licences.
  • Embargo: research outputs can be embargoedÌýwhereÌýnecessary.
  • Team collaboration: data can be added to definedÌýproject spaces.
