Meet Jo Stroud, Interim Director of Digital Education.
About Jo
Jo is the Interim Director of Digital Education at 911±¬ÁÏÍø, a function which has expanded significantly from its early focus on the Virtual Learning Environment, Moodle – now delivering a range of platforms, services, and support across educational media, online and blended learning, digital accessibility, assessment, and AI.Â
With a varied academic background in computer science, English, and film, Jo joined UCL as a student in 2016, enrolling in a Master’s degree in Education at the IOE, UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society.Â
Having held learning technology positions at teaching and research-intensive institutions across the UK, she later re-joined UCL as a member of staff in 2017.
Specialising in online and distance education as a Senior Learning Technologist, Jo was promoted to Head of Online Learning at the height of the pandemic in 2020, a period in which she coordinated the institution’s swift transition to remote teaching.Â
In her spare time, she lives with her partner and exceptionally handsome – but stubborn – schnauzer, Colin.
Jo is an ardent cineaste, volunteers as a gardener at her local park, and climbs to a low standard.Â
