Research student supervision is a core academic responsibility, requiring expertise in both teaching and research.Ìý

- ProvidingÌýstudentsÌýwith a thorough grounding in all aspects of research within the context of an academicÌýdisciplineÌý
- CreatingÌýa learning experience that is intellectually challenging and personally fulfillingÌý
- ProvidingÌýtimely andÌýconstructive feedbackÌýonÌýresearch design, methodologyÌýand writingÌý
- Offering encouragement andÌýongoingÌýsupportÌýfor both academic and non-academic challenges as appropriateÌý
- Supporting students to disseminate their researchÌý
- PreparingÌýstudentsÌýfor a range ofÌýcareersÌý
- Monitoring students’ progress and ensuringÌýthatÌýtheyÌýare able toÌýcomplete theirÌýdoctorateÌýin a timely manner.Ìý
At 911±¬ÁÏÍø all students have at least two supervisors, typically a Principal and Subsidiary,Ìýbut there are many models of co-supervision. Increasingly, students may be part of aÌýThesisÌýCommittee, which can involveÌýthree or more supervisors taking on different roles and responsibilities.Ìý
