Improving education in low- and middle-income countries
MA students are exploring the relationship international development has with education planning, economics, gender and health promotion.

ThroughthefourMAprogrammesoffered bytheUCL Institute of Education’s Centre for Education&International Development(EID),studentscanadvance theirknowledge andunderstanding of issues related toSustainable Development Goal4:Quality Education, while engaging with themes from a number of other SDGs.
“The four programmes offer a unique combination of opportunities to study education in the context of international development, opportunities not offered elsewhere in the UK or globally,” saysDr Ian Warwick, Programme Leaderfor the EID’sMAin Education, Health Promotion and International Development.
Whiledeveloping their understanding of thebroadertheories and concepts of education and international development, students are able to follow their particular interest byfocusing onareas such as: genderinequalitiesand sexualities; promoting health and wellbeing; economics of education: educational planning; conflict, emergencies and peacebuilding; researching education in the context of international development.

Studentsenrolled on theMAsexplore the relationship between education and wider social processes in contexts of poverty and inequality, and critically examine relevant contemporary policyand practice-relatedissues
All four MAs provide students with an opportunity to conduct a small -scale research study of relevance to their own interests – with the MAEducation, Gender and International Development; MA Education, Health Promotion and International Development and MA Economics, Educational Planning and International Development enabling students to specialise in one of these fields.
