Ana Ilievska Zavrsnik

Ana Ilievska ZavrÅ¡nik is a lecturer, translator, assessor, and chartered language consultant, specialising in Macedonian and Slovene. Her consultancy services span public and corporate sectors across the UK, Slovenia, and N. Macedonia.Ìý

Committed to humanitarian causes, Ana volunteers for international human rights organisations offering integration mentorship for asylum seekers through translation and teaching.

Ana’s linguistic interests are linked to Applied linguistics, especially Sociolinguistics and cultural identity. She is also interested in grammar and, as a bilingual person, in how language shapes our perception of reality.

She is a founder of Language Yoga – School of Macedonian and Slovene, and she organises Walk and Talk sessions for language professionals. Her commitment to advancing the field of linguistics is further demonstrated by her role as a Member of Council at the Chartered Institute of Linguists andÌýshe nurtures her passion for linguistics by actively participating in language conferences and events.Ìý

To enhance her professional qualifications, she earned certificates and became a member of esteemed institutions such as the Chartered Institute of Linguists, Linguistic Association of Great Britain, The British Association for Applied Linguistics, the British Association for Slavonic & East European Studies, Bilingualism Matters, and ONA VE.

Her method of teaching is fun and lively, creating an environment where students can feel comfortable in making mistakes.

Outside of her professional pursuits, she finds joy in exploring museums, galleries, and coffee - preferably together,Ìýimmersing herself in the enchanting world of Scottish Gaelic and enjoys delving into grammar books,Ìýeating potica and drinking боза - preferably separate.Ìý
