Take part in PLORAS
We have included over 1500 volunteers! We are always looking for more stroke survivors to take part.
We areÌý³¦³Ü°ù°ù±ð²Ô³Ù±ô²âÌý°ù±ð³¦°ù³Ü¾±³Ù¾±²Ô²µÌýstroke survivorsÌýwho areÌýsuffering fromÌýspoken communication difficulties.ÌýÌý
Our goal is to:
- ³¾´Ç²Ô¾±³Ù´Ç°ùÌý³Ù³ó±ð¾±°ùÌý°ù±ð³¦´Ç±¹±ð°ù²âÌýin theÌýfirst year afterÌý³Ù³ó±ð¾±°ùÌýstroke, and
- ¾±²Ô±¹±ð²õ³Ù¾±²µ²¹³Ù±ðÌý³Ù³ó±ðÌý´Ú²¹³¦³Ù´Ç°ù²õÌý(e.g.Ìý therapy, age, Ìýstroke details) thatÌý¾±²Ô´Ú±ô³Ü±ð²Ô³¦±ðÌýthe degree ofÌýrecovery.
The more stroke survivors we include, the more we understand!
What does taking part involve?
PLORAS participants:
- agree for PLORAS to ²¹³¦³¦±ð²õ²õÌýtheir hospital brain scan and medical records (e.g. stroke details and any speech and language therapy assessments)
- answer questions ²¹²ú´Ç³Ü³ÙÌý³Ù³ó±ð¾±°ù stroke recovery (approximatelyÌýevery 3-6 months)
Some participants may also be invited for optional follow-up activities.
Please note that PLORAS do not provide:
- diagnoses
- treatment
- therapy recommendations
However, it is hoped that our research will help to improve the outcomes for future stroke survivors.
How do stroke survivors take part?
- Most stroke survivors are referred to us via the Clinical Research Network.
- Stroke survivorsÌýcan refer directly to PLORAS if they are not linked to a hospital site. Please Contact Us for more information. We can tell you what kinds of strokes and symptoms we are currently including.
