Number of hours:ÌýVarious -Ìýroles could be anything from up to 5 hours per week in term time to one off sessions.

Job description

The purpose of this job is to support teaching and learning in our undergraduate and postgraduate taught portfolio, working with the academic leads to support the delivery of teaching for students taking modules in the Education Department of the Division of Medicine during 2024/25. There will be a range of work available.

Key responsibilities

  • Teaching assistance through the facilitation of seminars and/or workshops;
  • Class preparation and meeting with lecturers/module organisers;
  • Laboratory demonstration;
  • Marking students' work;
  • Giving feedback to students

Requirements for role

Applicants should be working towards a relevant PhD and have specialist skill appropriate to the courses taught.Ìý

  • Good communication and organisational skills are essential along with a keen interest in teaching.
  • Applicants must have taken Arena One: Gateway Workshop or will take it imminently and before undertaking any teaching
  • PGTAs will be expected to be present on Bloomsbury and/or Royal Free campuses during the terms for which teaching is allocated and during the examination period as required.

Applicants should provide a CV and a brief covering letter to Kinga Podolak (k.podolak@ucl.ac.uk) which includes confirmation they have agreed with their supervisor they can be available for PGTA work.

Upon application all suitable applicants will be entered into a pool of PGTAs for module and programme leads to review and offer PGTA work to. We expect to be able to offer all suitable applicants some form of PGTA work in term 1 and/or term 2, though this is dependent on your availability and eligibility. Please note as this may be in term 2 work may not be offered until later in term 1.
