UCL Parents and Carers Network: steering group members needed
7 July 2016
The network was established in 2014, has 200 members and has organised a number of hugely popular events such
as workshops to prepare women going on maternity leave, assertiveness for
parents and carers, bilingualism
for children and time
management for parents, etc. We are looking to run more events for carers and
broaden our membership in the coming years.
Madiha Sajid, Co-Chair of PACT
affirms that PACT network has
reached out to the UCL community which is very diverse in nature and through
our activities, we aim to provide a safe space for anyone who goes through the
ups and downs of caring - either for a child or for their partner or parents. Jawwad Darr Co-Chair of
the network observes Ìýthat we have had some inspiring talks from people at 911±¬ÁÏÍøho have informed
and educated us on how they are addressing carer or childcare issues as well as
understanding flexible approaches to working; the talks have been very useful
and a lot of knowledge in how to get help has been disseminated.
To register your interest in this role please complete the affirmation of interest form and send to equalities@ucl.ac.uk by 5 August. Membership is open to all staff who are parents and carers and we are particularly interest in recruiting male members and members with caring responsibilities to ensure a gender balance and a balance of activities on parenting and caring. Membership of UCL's equality groups is recognised as a key enabling activity.
