Summer 2015 volunteering opportunity in Ghana
6 March 2015
The UCL branch of Students for Kids in International Projects (SKIP UCL), a UK-based, student led charity, is offering students the chance to volunteer in Ghana this summer.
SKIP UCL is partnered with an NGO in rural Ghana, the Hand in Hand Community for mentally and physically disabled children, and is keen to recruit 911±¬ÁÏÍø students to volunteer in Ghana from 6 July to 9 August this year.
Volunteering activities
New recruits will have the chance to take part in a variety of projects including setting up a community library, helping out in the summer school and giving health and disability awareness lectures.
You will also have a daily schedule giving them one-on-one time with the children and each volunteer will be allocated a child who they will feed during meal times throughout the five-week programme.
Michelle Hind, Vice Project Coordinator, SKIP UCL, "Volunteers are required to fund their own travel and living expenses
during the programme. The travel costs are the main expense, with flights
costing £600 (approximately).
"This is a fantastic opportunity that is very enjoyable and highly rewarding with volunteers also getting the chance to see wild elephants, swim in waterfalls and go on a canopy walk through the rainforest!"
