Consultation on changes to UCL Induction and Probation policies
22 April 2015
In response to the policy review requested by the HR Policy Committee (HRPC), a new UCL Induction and Probation policy has been drafted.
- UCL Probationary Lecturer and Research Fellow Scheme.
- Induction and Probation Procedure for Research and Professional Services Staff
- Teaching Fellows: Induction and Probation Procedure
The broad aims of the new Induction and Probation Policy are to focus on supporting all new employees of UCL, provide consistency of approach to staff induction and align policy and processes for probation. The new policy is presented using the common template, which effectively separates core policy from detailed process. Additional guidance, including flowcharts and forms, are appendices to the main policy document.Ìý
These draft documents have been given approval by the Human Resources Management Advisory Group (HRMAG) and shared and discussed with colleagues from UCU, Unison and Unite through the Joint Consultative and Negotiating Group (JCNG).
It is proposed that these new policies will apply to all new UCL staff members, from their first day of employment with the University.
All employees are now invited and encouraged to review the proposed documents and share their comments to feed into final discussions before formal approvals are sought. The all staff consultation is open from 23 April - 8 May 2015.
