The Spreading Canker of Alcoholism

A UCL academic will talk about alcoholism at a UCL Lunch Hour lecture in February 2006.
With 150,000 hospital admissions each year and deaths from cirrhosis rising in younger age groups, alcohol is becoming a bigger burden on society - costs are estimated at £7.3billion for alcohol-related crime alone.Ìý
In this lunchtime lecture, Professor Williams will talk about the dangers of alcohol misuse, in particular the physical risks for young people of school and university age. He will demonstrate what a unit of alcohol is and compare government spending on alcohol health information with that spent on alcohol advertising.Ìý
The talk will take place in the Darwin Lecture Theatre at 911±¬ÁÏÍø's Gower Street site on 9 February 2006 at 1.15pm, and is open to all.Ìý
