15 March 2004

UCL's School of Slavonic & East European Studies is hosting a symposium on 2 April 2004 on the implications of the Baltic States joining the European Union.

The event is being held on the eve of accession to the EU for the ten countries that are joining the 15 current Member States. Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are among those countries, and will be represented at the symposium by high profile experts from SSEES, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and representatives from the worlds of economics, manufacturing and academia in the Baltic states.

The topics of politics, economics and education and culture will be discussed, followed by a round-table panel discussion chaired by Professor George Kolankiewicz, Director of SSEES.
