Exploring Archaeology day: hands on activities for all the family

London is home to the UK's largest university archaeology department and on Saturday 17th July it is open to the public as part of National Archaeology Day.
Short talks for adults and older children
• Archaeology in London.
• Feeding the pyramid builders.
• Recording and studying archaeology.
For adults, families and younger children there will be all sorts of 'drop
in and join in' activities:
• Roman Property: Bring in your own finds and have them identified by
our resident expert
• Tour of our conservation labs: See what's involved in conserving and
restoring objects for display in museums.
• Animals in archaeology: Where zoology and archaeology meet.
• Bones: Death and Disease Identify age, illnesses and ancient working
practices from our archaeological bone collection.
• Ancient Communication: Experience the different ways that people have
communicated and discover what modern languages can tell us about the past.
• The Archaeology of Africa: From metals to pots - technology that changed
the world!
All activities are free with no need to book
