Usama joined UCL as a research fellow to develop superhydrophobic coatings and porous materials for radiative cooling. He is a materials scientist who graduated from the University of Manchester in 2021, where he worked with bp plc. to engineer materials for separations. Usama uses chemical synthesis methods to engineer porous materials and thin films for energy and environmental applications. He is a member of the royal society of chemistry and the institute of materials, minerals and mining.
