Description

Summary

This module has 2 components: i) Baby follow-up (0-6 months) where you will study the development of a baby born in Term 1 and the impact of their birth on the family through regular contact. You will enter information into your own 'Red Book' (the parent-held child record) and you will be expected to read about conditions and situations as they arise. Formal teaching will be provided through online sessions; ii) Young Child or Adolescent option where you choose whether to study development, disability and behaviour in younger children (0-5 years) or adolescents (13-19 years). If you choose the Young Child option, you will explore what services are available for all under-5s such as Health Visitors (universal services) and learn about more targeted services such as Speech and Language therapy and Child Development teams. If you choose the adolescent option, you will explore issues such as what it means to be an adolescent, adolescent sexual health and the challenges transitioning to adult services.
