Description
This is a compulsory module for students taking the IBSc in Surgical Sciences.
The programme involves a two-week course, aimed to enhance the knowledge of, and familiarise the students with, basic surgical skills. It involves A series of introductory and some more advanced lectures covering the philosophy of surgical practice, procedural decisions, associated sequelae and currently proposed progression for future surgical advances. This will be supported by several practical sessions to teach students a range of skills such as sterile technique, basic suturing, microsurgery, and endoscopic and laparoscopic skills. Teaching will take place at The Griffin Institute, Northwick Park Hospital (formerly NPIMR).
