Description
You will engage in a wider research project carried out at 911±¬ÁÏÍø and assigned a project supervisor; through pursuing your chosen project, you will gain in-depth knowledge, understanding and practical experience of your chosen research topic area.ÌýIf you choose to undertake a research project that requires you to be present in a clinical setting, you will be subject to UCL occupational health checks as well as an enhanced DBS. You will not be able to undertake a project that requires contact with patients in a clinical setting without these checks.
This module entails the completion of a dissertation on an area of research that you have chosen to study that is compatible with your programme of study (either by picking from a list of topics or through networking with academics at 911±¬ÁÏÍø). Depending on the specific requirements for your programme, your research project can either involve collection/analysis of data or be a systematic review with the possibility of including a meta analysis
By the end of this module, students will have demonstrated the ability to:
- Describe, synthesise and critique scientific literature relevant to project.
- Formulate unique research question(s) with justified aims/hypotheses.
- Develop and apply appropriate research methodology to answer research question(s).
- Describe methods and report results clearly.
- Appraise and discuss findings in relation to wider literature.
- Evaluate limitations of own work and formulate next steps.
- Demonstrate effective academic writing skills.
