Description
This module introduces the concepts of ethics and governance in healthcare, research methodology, data analysis and research funding in healthcare. You will complete literature searches and use the results to create research questions. You will select methodological approaches, collect and analyse data and interpret the results. You will also learn about and use a range of statistical and qualitative analysis methods.
This module aims to provide a firm foundation in the following topics:
- Ethics and Governance in healthcare research.
- Reviewing and critically appraising the literature
- Research methodology including qualitative and quantitative methods.
- Creating research questions.
- Statistical methods.
- Data analysis, including use of analysis software.
- Qualitative analysis, including use of analysis software.
- Healthcare research funding.
- The role of the systematic review in EBP
On completion of this module you should be able to:
- Explain the role of ethics and governance in research.
- Design research questions with reference to the existing research literature.
- Collect, analyse and interpret research data.
- Write scientific reports.
- Explain the role of the systematic review in evidence-based practice.
