Description
The Research Dissertation and Publication module reflects theÌýpedagogy of BA Media in taking the form of a hybrid exercise integrating three components concerned with a single theme.ÌýIt seeks to introduce students to research methods, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to identify and refine an interdisciplinary enquiry in the fields of film, gaming or immersive experience, and establish an individual critical response.ÌýStudents will undertake an appropriate literature review and focus on methodological issues including ethical questions.ÌýBy the end of the module, they will have produced an original 6,000 to 8,000-word written dissertation in a publishable format, together with a complementary moving-image artefact, such as a film, game or immersive digital environment, and a podcast that will be displayed as part of the BA Media Degree Show.
This module is suitable for the following pathways:Ìý
PATHWAY 1: Critical Media with Film: an emphasis on theory, but with a trajectory of practical work in film-making running through Years 2 and 3. This pathway will follow all the theory and practice modules in Film through to advanced level.Ìý
