Description
Your year-long MRes Biosciences project is the key part of the whole programme. The programme is split into several ‘subject streams’, each with its own stream tutor. One of the primary responsibilities of the stream tutor is to guide your choice of project. Normally these projects are undertaken in the Biosciences Division at 911±¬ÁÏÍø but it may also be possible to study in other faculties or institutes. Projects are generally in well-funded labs, independent and of ‘publication quality’. You will be treated as a full member of the supervisor’s research group. Students are expected to start their project within a few weeks of the start of term 1 and to work continuously on it throughout the year with the exception of time taken for the four taught modules and any examinations. It is very important to choose your research project carefully and it needs to have the approval of the stream tutor with whom you should discuss options during the first 2 weeks. You will be taught all the necessary skills required to plan, perform, analyse, display and write the research project.
