Managing the City Economy draws on social sciences, especially economics and politics, to study city economies and their management in both developing and developed countries. It enables students to develop a holistic understanding of the dynamic nature of city economies and the factors that underlie their performance. By linking theory with practice and through critical examination of selected policy experiences around the world, this module enables students to also develop skills of formulating and evaluating industrial policy and city development strategies.
It takes climate change into consideration throughout. It is particularly useful for those who are interested in a career that involves the strengthening of city economies through public intervention.
