Description

Aims:

The module aims to equip students with some of the fundamental concepts, ideas and frameworks that enable the members and leaders of contemporary organisations to interpret and respond to change. The syllabus focuses on approaches to managing organisations as they have historically developed, with special emphasis on problems of strategy, competition, change management, leadership, and culture.

Objectives:

  • Appreciate the historical legacy of the modern organisation and the forces of change that shape contemporary organisations.
  • Acquire some of the qualities and skill that are needed to lead, manage and enable change in international organisational settings.
  • Develop and build the foundations of critical thinking and analysis that are required to respond effectively to the many pressures in the business environment.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module you will be able to:

  • Appreciate the historical legacy of the modern organisation
  • Understand the nature of change and which approaches are available to managing change
  • Reflect critically on the role of managers and leaders in an ever-changing business environment.
