This module is compulsory for students taking MSc Light and Lighting.Ìý
This module can also be taken by up to three PhD students subject to there being spaces available. You will need to have some prior knowledge or experience of lighting, you should therefore contact the Module Leader to discuss your background and motivation before formally selecting the module.
Places will be confirmed at the discretion of the Module Leader and allocated on a first come first served basis. Please note that we may only be able to confirm these spaces towards the end of the module selection period

This module provides an introduction to the tools of lighting: natural daylight, lighting technologies and design calculations. It addresses the human response to lighting, fundamental definitions including basic lighting engineering calculations for both daylighting and electric lighting.
