Description

This module gives students an introduction to the basics of computer programming through simple material related to design and architecture. It’s essentially a 101 crash course to computer science for designers, helping the students understand computational processes that will later help them with complicated design challenges. This covers the theory of computing in addition to mathematics useful to design and computer graphics in general. Students are given the opportunity to write develop a programs to achieve a set goals, with a focus on understanding the programming concepts to be applied. Live computer-based learning sessions consist of a ‘type-along’ lecture, with both students and lecturer using computers. The programming language used for the classes is C#. The tutorials are followed up by a small group tutorial. Students will learn how to write a basic computer program, and gain knowledge of core programming techniques such as loops, functions, arrays and classes.
