Description

To introduce the scientific principles governing groundwater flow, groundwater chemistry and groundwater occurrence as a context for examining (1) the hydrogeological characteristics of aquifers, (2) groundwater in geological processes, and (3) groundwater in environmental management.

By the end of this module students will have knowledge and understanding of:

  • Concepts and principles of groundwater flow and groundwater / aquifer chemical interactions
  • Measurements in hydrogeology
  • Processes of groundwater recharge, storage, and interfaces with surface hydrology
  • The characteristics of important aquifers
  • Significance of groundwater in geological processes, and environmental management
