Description

Global learning is a pedagogical approach that encourages active engagement with a diverse, interdependent and fragile world, which encompasses approaches such as education for sustainable development and global citizenship education. This online module encourages critical engagement with current and diverse theoretical perspectives underpinning these approaches, and reflection by students on the links between these perspectives and their educational practice.

By the end of the module students will be able to:

· identify, discuss and develop a deep understanding of a range of theoretical perspectives that underpin approaches to global learning, education for global citizenship and education for sustainable development;

· critically assess the contribution of these theoretical perspectives to research, policy and practice in the field;

· critique a wide range of professional and academic articles and other publications in the field

· identify and re-assess their own theoretical position in relation to global learning, education for global citizenship and education for sustainable development

· reflect critically on the value of these theoretical perspectives for understanding their own practice
