Description

Over the period of their undergraduate studies, Information Management for Business students

will have worked both individually and also together in groups on a variety of topics and subjects,

and towards many different aims and objectives. The purpose of the extra mural year is to extend

these experiences to an operational, commercial, or managerial setting.

Ìý

The extra mural year normally involves the student taking a substantial placement of one year in

an organisation. This placement is secured by the student and approved by the School of

Management as relevant for the student’s field of study in information management and

business.

Ìý

The extra mural year provides the opportunity to gain work experience, in a period that combines

study and work, and the application of study to work. Additionally the intention is to ensure that

this part of the student experience is formally recognised in the degree they obtain from UCL
