This module will guide you through the skills which will help ensure academic and career success.Ìý
You will be introduced to the variety of roles available within the engineering profession, as well as the skills required of successful engineers. You will make use of reflection and reflective writing to engage in self-directed and lifelong learning. You will develop an ability toÌýidentify and analyse problems, research potential solutions based on multiple sources of technical and non-technical information and become aware and reflect on the key areas of engineering within society including the ethical implications of engineering practice and the need for consideration of risk, security, sustainability and equality and diversity. The module is taught through a combination of lectures, seminars, workshops, tutor-led e-learning and activities led by guest lecturers. Ìý
By the end of this module, you will be able to:   Ìý
- Demonstrate engagement with reflective and self-directed learning as key academic and professional skills in a range of engineering disciplinary approaches.  Ìý
- Conduct research and analyse and critically evaluate both technical and non-technical information to contribute towards engineering work.ÌýÌý
- Communicate efficiently and effectively via a range of media on different topics and for different technical and non-technical audiences.Ìý
- Identify and evaluate behaviours (such as ethics, risk, security and sustainability, equality, diversity and inclusion) which contribute to successful and responsible engineering practice and how they are managed.Ìý
