For non-EID students a statement of no more than 250 words is required (to be sent at least two weeks before the module starts). This should state why you would like to study the module, giving previous experience of education in low / middle income countries. This should include at least six months' relevant experience in a low / middle income country, an understanding of educational issues in low / middle income countries, a commitment to improving education in a low / middle income country. Non-EID students can only study the module in Term 2.

Description

This module introduces a range of concepts from the social and political sciences that assist the understanding and analysis of the relationship between education, learning and international development in low and middle income countries. The module also explores critically the changing links between these relationships at individual, local, national, regional, international and global levels. It introduces and discusses issues of educational policy and practice in low and middle income countries.
