Description

This module critically analyses mobile media, situating them within the broader theoretical, historical, socio-cultural and practical contexts of communicating, creating and accessing media content. The module critically analyses how mobile media participate in shaping our ways of being, feeling and moving in the world from intimate everyday interactions to large-scale political changes. Introducing key theoretical approaches and current issues, the module asks how power works in mobile media through themes such as mobility and access, surveillance and disinformation, AI and cyborgs, privacy and self-tracking, influencers and selfies, and formations of gender, race and sexuality.
