Description

Summary

This course will provide an overview of clinical cardiology sub-specialties. The sub-specialties covered will include general cardiology, coronary intervention (ischaemic and structural heart disease), electrophysiology, grown-up congenital heart disease (GUCH), inherited cardiac disease, heart failure, cardiac surgery and cardiac imaging (echo, nuclear, MRI, CT). This is an academically orientated module which aims to show how scientific discoveries have been and are being translated into clinical practice.

Learning Objectives and Outcomes:

By taking this module, you should be able to:

  1. Understand contemporary clinical cardiology practice in the UK
  2. Learn how scientific discoveries have been translated into patient care
  3. Develop detailed knowledge of one specific topic in clinical cardiology

Who is this module for?

This module is open to UCL MSc Cardiovascular Science students who are training as or who have completed training as medical doctors. Other allied health professionals will be considered on an individual basis for suitability for the module.

Teaching and Learning Methods

Topics will be delivered via live virtual tutorials with a clinician, recorded lectures on core topics and and self-directed learning.
