Description

This module enables practitioners who have completed Foundation Stage 1 (FS1) or equivalent to consolidate and further develop their practice, and support progression on the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Foundation Pharmacy Framework (FPF). The intention of this module is to facilitate the development of higher levels of clinical practice, critical scholarly understanding of medicines optimisation, ‘big picture’ awareness of healthcare infrastructures and key professional competencies such as clinical leadership and teaching.

The module aims are summarised below:

• to develop the skills and behaviours required to make medicines optimisation part of routine clinical pharmacy practice

• to enable practitioners to acquire a critical understanding of the research evidence underpinning pharmacotherapy in defined areas relevant to their practice

• to provide opportunities for students to engage with experiences and learning that allow them to meet all competencies in the Foundation Pharmacy Framework

• to provide an introduction to advanced pharmacy practice domains, such as clinical teaching and clinical leadership

• to develop the reflective practitioner
