Description

The module will provide students with a strong foundation in the implementation of evidence based cognitive behavioural therapy for eating disorders. Students will be expected to draw on core theoretical concepts and models as well as incorporating current research and innovative developments in clinical practice. The module will include specific applications and adaptations of CBT-ED for particular client groups or settings (e.g. delivering CBT-ED online, working individuals with autism). Skills-based competencies will be developed through small group experiential work and role-plays in workshops, linked to group supervision by programme members and individual/group supervision in the place of work. Self-directed study will include general reading for each programme and preparatory reading for each session. Web based resources will allow students to study examples of clinical therapy sessions and clinical demonstrations of specific techniques.
