This module continues the theme of the integrated science-based curriculum. Trainees will develop an understanding of the normal physiology and common pathologies of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems. Understand how general anaesthesia alters respiratory and cardiac function and how airway and ventilation management is applied to support changes to physiology during general anaesthesia. The module explores the impact of anaesthesia on the heart and lungs and how close monitoring of each, allows the Anaesthetic Associate to develop anaesthetic plans to maintain homeostasis and treat abnormalities as they arise.
