The module is suitable for surgeons (non-surgeons would require special permission from the module and programme lead to access this module).  Completion of the module will enable students (surgeons) to acquire an understanding of the relevant surgical anatomy, physiology, and pathology of three main anatomical regions: breast, trunk/body and genial.ÌýÌý
The breast section will include congenital breast surgery, breast implant safety and all surgical options that effect aesthetic change to the breast, biological properties of breast implants and management of the long-term consequences of these devices. In the trunk, beyond surgical anatomy and physiology, students will learn abdominoplasty, correction of lax abdominal musculature, regional liposuction and extremity aesthetic surgery and surgery after massive weight loss. In genital surgery, all non-surgical and surgical options will be comprehensively covered.Ìý
Students will also understand the various components that contribute to the complex decision making in aesthetic surgery of breast, trunk/body and genial.  Furthermore, students will learn how to make a surgical plan for individual patients in respect of conditions covered in this module using skills of analysis and judgement.  There will also be an opportunity for students to perform surgical aesthetic procedures in a simulated environment.ÌýÌý
