Description

This is a compulsory module for BASc students on their year abroad.

Aim:

To practise and further develop your language skills and advance your level while you are on your year abroad.

Level:

The next level up from the one you have just completed at the CLIE. E.g. if you took German level 3 in 2022/23 then your BASc Study Abroad Project and Vlog are at German Level 4.

Project:

You should identify an aspect in the CLIE language module Project you completed in 2022/23 that you would like to research further, and use this as the basis for your Study Abroad Project. You must not reuse content from your previous Project.

There are several stages in order to support and guide you:

Proposal: to be submitted on AssessmentUCL. CLIE will send students submission guidelines in January 2025.

Draft: Submit a draft of the first part of your Project (approximately 50% of the UPPER word limit for your level) on AssessmentUCL. You will then receive feedback on structure, content and any main grammatical issues.

CLIE Project Marking Criteria will be used, which can be found in the CLIE Modules Student Handbook.

Vlog:

A 4-10 minute oral summary of your Study Abroad Project (similar to the presentation of your Project that you give as part of your CLIE Oral Examination).

CLIE Oral Examination marking Criteria will be used.
