Description
The 30-credit dissertation module in the final year of the Arts and Sciences BASc degree is the capstone project for students on the programme. Students decide on a dissertation research topic that draws on any one or more of their current or previous pathway modules (including core modules). Typically, the dissertation will take the form of a research project written up as a dissertation of 8,000-10,000 words (BASC0024).ÌýÌý
However, students can choose to take the creative practice route (BASC0025) in which they develop their dissertation through an exploration of their practice (rooted in skills they have learnt over their time on the BASc programme) in a certain area of expertise. In this case students will submit a creative practice project alongside a written component of a maximum of 5,000 words. Practice dissertations aim to potentiate another way of research able to generate other kind of methods and methodologies. For this reason, practice dissertations are open to other formats and structures. This will need to be discussed with the supervisors.Ìý
