Description
In this module you will be introduced to the discipline of project management and the fundamentals of traditional and novel development methodologies, such as agile, through a digital engineering lens in construction sector. As digital engineering takes the built environment closer to software engineering in a fast-pacing environment, this module aims to provide you with a deep understanding of quantitative techniques for project planning and defining, analysing and managing processes in digital engineering in the built environment. The module will equip you with the intellectual and practical managerial abilities to create traditional and agile project plans and manage hybrid processes and lead agile teams.
At the end of this module you will be able to:
- Understand theories, concepts, ideas, constructs of project planning
- Explain agile and hybrid project development methodologies
- Understand the process of formulating and managing project teams
- Identify and evaluate different project development methodologies, such as waterfall, agile, scrum etc.
- Outline the implications of structured/standard project management approaches and the use of software tools
- Critically analyse management concepts in the context of teamwork and leadership for agile and hybrid project teams in digital engineering in the built environment
