Description
This module is a literature based project for third year Molecular Biosciences students that develops an appreciation of the experimental and/or applied aspects of biochemistry, molecular biology or biotechnology by investigating a topic in depth with reference to recent literature. The module develops your skill in assimilating the published literature of a specific area and critically appraising the findings. You will produce a written dissertation with appropriate citations and reference list and present your findings orally for assessment at the Molecular Biosciences Undergraduate Research Symposium. The symposium is attended by all third year students and staff members. First and second year students, external examiners, sponsors and fourth year MSci students are invited to attend. The event concludes with a reception.
Projects are supervised by SMB departmental staff who provide guidance relevant to the project. Direction and advice on the content, format and style of the written dissertation are provided by both the module organiser and supervisors, but the dissertation is expected to be your original work, representative of your own ideas and conclusions.
