Description

Content: This module involves students completing a research project over one term (2500-3500 words). This is most commonly in the form of an empirical, experimental piece of work on a psychological topic. However, occasionally students may alternatively choose to do a project in the form of a literature review, where they will read articles and books in a specified area of psychology (either focusing on an area not offered by other modules, or exploring a taught topic in greater depth). Either form of project will be supervised by a member of the psychology faculty, who will usually meet with the student regularly to discuss progress. Students can only take this module if they are able to find a member of faculty to supervise them.

Teaching delivery: There are not set times for students who complete this project module, as this will depend on the demands of each individual project and the availability of the supervisor. Students will usually meet with their supervisor regularly to discuss the project. This may be in-person or online, as agreed between the supervisor and their student(s).

Indicative Topics: The topics offered for these projects vary each year and details of possible topics will be provided by the Affiliate administrator in advance of module selection.

Module Aims: The module culminates in a written report, either akin to a manuscript prepared for submission to a psychological journal (for an empirical project) or a written review paper of the chosen area of psychology (for a literature review project).
