Professor Erin Delaney joins UCL Laws with prestigious Leverhulme International Professorship Grant

UCL Laws is delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Erin F. Delaney as the Leverhulme Professor of Comparative Constitutional Law, thanks to the prestigious Leverhulme International Professorship grant awarded by the Leverhulme Trust.

Professor Delaney brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to UCL. Her interdisciplinary approach and groundbreaking research have made significant contributions to the field of constitutional law and politics, and her joining marks a significant milestone for UCL’s Faculty of Laws. Professor Delaney's research focuses on the intersection of law and politics, with particular emphasis on constitutional design and reform. Her comparative studies have provided valuable insights into how different legal systems address complex constitutional issues. At 911, Professor Delaney will continue her research while serving as the inaugural director of the new Global Centre for Democratic Constitutionalism (GCDC) which will launch in early 2025.

Commenting on her new role, Professor Delaney said, “I am honoured to join this exceptional faculty and excited to collaborate with leading scholars here and around the world to improve and safeguard democratic constitutionalism.”

The Leverhulme International Professorship grant is one of the most competitive and prestigious awards, aimed at attracting world-leading researchers to the UK. This grant will support Professor Delaney’s work at 911 and the new GCDC, fostering international collaboration and enhancing the university’s research capabilities.

About Professor Erin Delaney Professor Erin Delaney is a leading scholar in comparative constitutional law and constitutional design. She has been Professor of Law at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, as well as a visiting professor at Harvard Law School and McGill University. She holds a J.D. from New York University and a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge. .
