Professor Richard Moorhead elected to Academy of Social Sciences

Professor Moorhead is one of 73 leading socialist scientists conferred as Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, announced this week.

Professor Richard Moorhead, Chair of Law and Professional Ethics atÌýUCL Laws, has been madeÌý for his contribution to social science.

As one of the UK’s foremost scholars on lawyers, legal services and professional ethics, his work focuses on lawyers’ ethics, legal services, professional competence, the regulation of legal services and access to justice.

His latest book, , with fellow UCL academic, Steven Vaughan, and Cristina Godhino (Lisbon UI) has prompted debate worldwide on the role and function of General Counsel. Richard also writes for his blog , which regularly leads debates on lawyers ethics. He is currently advising the Women and Equalities Select Committee on NDAs in discrimination cases as a result of his work in this field.

The new Fellows are drawn from academics, practitioners and policymakers across the social sciences. They have been recognised after an extensive peer review process for the excellence and impact of their work through the use of social science for public benefit. This includes substantial contributions and leadership in various fields, including higher education, social, economic and environmental policy, government, law, charitable foundations and think tanks.
