Innovation: A technologically-advanced environment
Grays Inn Road will provide a technologically advanced research environment for our researchers and clinicians. We are developing a number of initiatives around laboratory infrastructure and building operations, making full use of shared facilities and flexible space as well as making a major investment into core technology platforms.

What we have achieved so far
We鈥檝e reduced the number of deliveries we receive each day, using a logistics hub to consolidate our packages, reducing our carbon footprint and saving money.

Our new operating model uses centralised infrastructure and a unified lab management team, to make our processes efficient and create technical career pathways.

We鈥檝e developed a new process to buy and store non temperature-sensitive consumables, buying in bulk to negotiate better prices and save storage space

We've听installed听vending machines in communcal areas, giving researchers immediate access to听听high-demand consumables, reducing waste and saving space on lab floors.
We鈥檝e standardised how we听manage听and monitor lab gases听to guarantee safety compliance and streamlined our admin processes to save time and money.

We鈥檝e set up centralilsed services and shared facilities, including cryostore, tissue culture rooms, autoclaves and glasswash to save time and money.
We鈥檝e standardised our waste management processes to reduce waste and increase recycling听to ensure we鈥檙e creating a more sustainable workplace.

We鈥檝e uploaded over 200,000 biological samples to our new software, which will track all clinical samples to ensure quality control and make our processes more efficient.

We鈥檝e set up and are using a central booking and cross-charging system to manage our equipment more efficiently and allow it to be easily shared.
