Join us for the inaugural UCL Centre for Capitalism Studies (CCS) Annual Conversation as we engage one of the most pressing questions of our time.

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Thomas Piketty’s monumental work 'Capital in the 21st Century', this event will bring together some of the most influential voices on capitalism to debate its future.

The UCL Centre for Capitalism Studies is a world-leading centre for critical interdisciplinary research into the past, present, and future of capitalism. Gillian Tett

Provost at King's College, Cambridge

An anthropologist by training, Gillian was previously Chairman of the US Editorial Board and America Editor-at-Large at the Financial Times. Alongside her role as Provost, she continues to write a weekly column and is a member of the editorial board for the FT. She is the author of, among other books, Anthro-Vision: A New Way to See in Business and Life and the New York TimesÌý²ú±ð²õ³Ù²õ±ð±ô±ô±ð°ùÌýFool's Gold: How Unrestrained Greed Corrupted a Dream, Shattered Global Markets and Unleashed a Catastrophe.

Thomas Piketty

Chaired Professor at Paris School of Economics

Thomas Piketty is Professor of Economics and Economic History at  and at the . His research lies at the intersection of historical political economy and socio-economic history. He is the author of research articles published in journals such as the Quarterly Journal of Economics, the Journal of Political Economy, the American Economic Review, the Review of Economic Studies, Explorations in Economic History, Annales: Histoire, Sciences Sociales. He has done historical and theoretical work on the interplay between economic development, the distribution of income and wealth, and political conflict.These works have led to emphasize the role of political, social and fiscal institutions in the historical evolution of income and wealth distribution. Thomas Piketty is also co-director of the  and the , and one of initiators of the . He is the author of several books including Ìý(2014),Ìý (2020) and Ìý(2022).
