'(Un)equal Lives, (Un)equal Outcomes in the UK: Addressing Societal Inequalities' Special Initiative

Funding is available for £10,000 for projects focused on inequalities in the UK. This special initiative call seeks to understand ‘what works where and why’ to take steps toward more equal futures.

Deadline for applications:ÌýMonday 21 October 2024, 17.00 (GMT).

Project proposals are asked to address the foundations of societal inequalities in the UK, exploring their implications (and outcomes) at any or all levels and, critically, identifying responses or solutions to address these - 'what works' locally or systemically.Ìý

The list below provides examples of the thematic focus of projects that could be funded - it is neither prescriptive nor exhaustive:

  • Understanding and addressing impacts of cost-of-living crisis
  • Co-producing inclusive social change
  • Equitable educational outcomes
  • Addressing social class basis of unequal outcomes
  • Age-related disparities
  • Inequities in the justice system
  • (Disruptive) technology and inequalitiesÌý

Applications for projects costing up to £10,000 will be considered under this call. Due to the UCL fiscal year-end, all funding must be spent, and expenses must be identified and invoiced, by 31 July 2025.

  • Eligibility

First Applicants must be UCL staff – either researchers in academic Faculties or Professional Services.Ìý

Second Applicants can be either UCL staff, UCL PhD students (researchers in academic Faculties or Professional Services) or external partners (e.g. at a policy, third sector, charity, community, or business organisation).

Read the full guidance and eligibility criteria for the call.ÌýIn order to be eligible for funding, please complete a short application form and then submit yourÌýproposal using theÌýonline form.

Step One

Download and complete the application form.

Rename the application form using the format:Ìý"First Applicant Family Name and Second Applicant Family Name".

Register your project using the submission form.

Upload your completed application form (please , if possible).
