Ìý"New Loos for London?"Ìýconsidered the viability of dry sanitation options for the capital, andÌýbrought together key figures involved in the management of waste, water, and sanitation, as well as entrepreneurs, designers, cultural commentators and community members. Organized byÌýÌý(±Ê±ô²¹²Ô²Ô¾±²Ô²µ),ÌýÌý(Architecture),Ìýand PhD candidate Danielle Willkens (Architecture) the two-day event was held overÌý8-9 November and was supported by a UCL Grand Challenges Small Grant for Sustainable Cities.
"New Loos for London?"Ìýincluded site visits (to London Waste’s EcoPark and Thames Water’s Deephams waste treatment facility), an exhibition of proven and experimental composting toilet systems (Loowatt, Envirolet, Woowoo, Tiger Toilet), and a workshop of focused discussion about the social, legal and political ramifications of alternate sanitation in the city.ÌýÌý
