UCL-AIIMS and UCL-IIT Delhi seed funding recipients for 2019-2020

Eight projects were awarded funding through two joint research strategic partner funds with UCL partners in India
30 applications (11 from UCL & AIIMS; 19 from UCL & IIT-D) were received for two joint research strategic partner seed fund calls in 2019. Out of these, eight projects have been successful in drawing funds, and these are listed below.
UCL & AIIMS
- A study to determine the clinical and neuroimaging characteristics and outcomes of Febrile Infection-Related Epilepsy Syndrome (FIRES) in children – Professor Helen Cross & Professor Sheffali Gulati
- A study to determine the prognosis of patients with cardiac involvement with sarcoid, and development of diagnostic and treatment algorithms – Professor Perry Elliott & Professor Sandeep Seth
- Computational Modelling of Cerebral Blood Flow in Moya Disease – Professor Rebecca Shipley & Professor Ashish Suri
- Development and pilot testing of a smartphone-based app for non-invasive detection of anaemia in pregnant women – Dr Sara Hillman & Professor Vatsla Dadhwal
UCL & IIT-D
- Refreshable Tactile Drawing – Dr Catherine Holloway & Professor PV Madhusudhan Rao
- Insights into the structural tuning of bifunctional catalyst for carbon-neutral fuel production from second-generation biomass – Dr Feng Ryan Wang & Professor Sreedevi Upadhyayula
- Tumour stroma targeted salinomycin nano-formulation for the treatment of breast cancer – Dr Maryam Parhizkar & Dr Jayanta Bhatacharyya
- Diabetes and frailty: investigating insulin signalling and resistance of intrafusal muscle fibres – Dr Darren Player & Professor Chinmoy Sankar Dey
