Mould Growth Testing and Benchmarking

Mould is considered to be one of the biggest problems that the built environment faces in terms of air quality and health, and is encouraged by sustained high levels of relative humidity within and around the building envelopes, causing degradation of the building materials, poor air quality and problems with respiratory health. Despite being an extremely common phenomenon in properties throughout the UK, it is still not clear how mould growth should be measured, what level of mould may be considered normal or acceptable and what level is abnormal or unacceptable.

is a pilot project that aims to carry out extensive surface and air testing in more than 100 residential properties as well as surveying and particle counting, in order to establish a methodology for mould sampling and benchmarking what is "acceptable".
