Jason is a PhD student with a particular interest in applying fractal structures found in nature to the flow field in electrochemical devices such as polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) and vanadium flow batteries. Prior to joining UCL in 2013, he received his MEng degree in Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London.
Research project
Title: Nature inspired polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell
Jason’s PhD project applies the nature inspired approach to the challenges of electrochemical energy storage, ranging from effective flow and access of reactants to electrodes to the structuring of components to ensure functional effectiveness over different length scales. The project draws upon the skills and facilities available in the Centre for Nature Inspired Engineering (EPSRC "Frontier Engineering Award") and the Electrochemical Innovation Lab (EIL).Â
